How to Schedule Facebook Posts
Facebook’s own steps for scheduling Page posts, the time limits, editing in Planner and a weekly routine that works.
In short: from your Facebook Page, open Meta Business Suite, click Create post, turn on Set date and time, choose when it should go out and click Schedule. You can schedule between 20 minutes and 29 days ahead, times follow your current time zone, and people with Facebook or task access can schedule. Edit, reschedule or move posts to drafts in Planner.

Scheduling is a Page feature. If you post from a personal profile, see our Facebook Page vs profile guide first.
How to schedule a Facebook Page post
Facebook’s steps on a computer (Schedule a post and manage scheduled posts for your Facebook Page):
- Switch to the Page you want to use.
- From your Page, click Meta Business Suite in the left menu.
- Click Create post below your Page’s profile picture.
- Write the post and add photos, video or a link.
- Next to Scheduling options, turn on the Set date and time toggle.
- Pick the date and time. Click Active times to see recommended publishing times.
- Click Schedule.
The time must be at least 20 minutes and at most 29 days away. Times follow your current time zone, so if you travel or your audience is abroad, convert the time first. For example, 7 pm in Dubai is 8:30 pm in India (our example).
How to edit, reschedule or delete a scheduled post
- Switch to your Page and open Meta Business Suite.
- Click Planner in the left menu. Toggle between Week and Month at the top left.
- Click the post on the calendar, then click Options (⋯).
From there Facebook offers (Schedule a post and manage scheduled posts for your Facebook Page):
- Edit post: change the text, media, link or location.
- Duplicate post: copy it as a new post, handy for a weekly series.
- Reschedule post: pick a new date and time.
- Move to drafts: cancel the scheduled time and keep the post as a draft.
- Delete post: remove it.
Who can schedule posts for a Page
Facebook says scheduled posts can be created and edited by people with Facebook access or task access to the Page (Schedule a post and manage scheduled posts for your Facebook Page). If a teammate or agency can’t see the scheduling option, check their access in the Page settings or in Meta Business Suite.
Give the lowest access that does the job, and remove people who no longer work on the Page. That’s our suggestion; for a business, it protects the Page if a login is ever compromised.
Scheduling Facebook and Instagram together
Meta Business Suite is the same place you can plan Instagram posts from a computer, so you can schedule both platforms in one session. Our guide to scheduling Instagram posts covers the Instagram side, including scheduling in the Instagram app.
Write each caption for its platform. A Facebook post can carry a clickable link; on Instagram, links go in Stories or your bio (see how to add links to Instagram Stories and bio). Tag Facebook links with our UTM link builder so Google Analytics shows which posts send visitors.
When to schedule: use your own data
Facebook’s Active times button is the best starting point because it’s based on your own Page’s audience. Facebook doesn’t publish a universal best time, and lists of “best times” you see online aren’t official.
Our suggested routine:
- Start with two or three slots from Active times.
- Keep them for four weeks, then compare reach and engagement per post in Meta Business Suite insights.
- Move the weakest slot and test again.
The same method works on other platforms; see our guides to the best time to post on Instagram and on LinkedIn.
A simple weekly scheduling routine
- Monday, 30 minutes: plan the week’s posts. Our free content calendar generator gives you ideas by platform.
- Prepare media: size images with our image size guide and resizer.
- Schedule everything in Meta Business Suite, up to 29 days ahead.
- Daily, 10 minutes: reply to comments and messages; scheduling doesn’t replace being present.
- Friday: check Planner for gaps and move any time-sensitive post to drafts if plans change.
This routine is our suggestion, based on how we run Pages for clients.
Common scheduling problems
- “I can’t pick that time.” It’s less than 20 minutes or more than 29 days away.
- Post went out at the wrong hour. Scheduling uses your current time zone; check the device or browser you scheduled from.
- No scheduling option. You may be on a personal profile, or you don’t have Facebook or task access to the Page.
- Need to pause a post. Use Move to drafts instead of deleting, so you keep the work.
Facebook scheduling checklist
- Posting from a Page, with Facebook or task access.
- Post written, media sized, link tagged.
- Set date and time on, between 20 minutes and 29 days ahead.
- Time checked against your current time zone and your audience’s.
- Planner reviewed weekly; posts edited, duplicated or moved to drafts as needed.
