A monthly social media management plan usually bundles strategy, a content calendar, finished posts and short videos, captions and SEO, publishing and a monthly review. With Viral In City that is about 30 content assets per platform for indicatively $450–$850 a month, roughly $15–$28 per asset; our pricing page lists every package and the free calculator estimates your own mix.

Start here: prices, calculator, and what this guide covers

Looking for the headline numbers? Our social media management pricing page lists every package in USD, and the free social media management cost calculator gives an indicative monthly range for your own platforms and posting frequency.

This guide answers a different question: what exactly are you paying for? It splits a monthly plan into its deliverables, shows which are included in a standard plan and which are usually extras, and turns the price into a cost per finished asset so you can compare any two quotes, including ours.

We have deliberately not quoted "industry average" prices: published averages are usually drawn from small, self-reported surveys and vary widely by country. If you see one, check the sample and the date.

Every plan also includes research, a content calendar, captions, SEO direction, publishing support and a monthly performance review. Per-asset figures are simple division to help you compare quotes; they are not separate prices. Three separate single-platform plans would be $1,350–$2,550, so the three-platform bundle works out cheaper per asset. Prices are custom quotes based on your goals; see the pricing page for the current packages.

Seven things that move the price

  1. Number of platforms. Each platform needs its own formats, captions and timing. Reposting one design everywhere is cheaper, but usually performs worse.
  2. Volume. Three posts a week and one post a day are very different workloads. Ask for the number of finished assets per month, not "regular posting".
  3. Format mix. Short-form video (Reels, Shorts, TikTok-style edits) takes more time than static graphics: scripting, editing, captions, music and cover frames.
  4. Raw content. Does the provider shoot on location, or do you supply clips? Professional shoots add day rates and travel; a remote team editing your phone footage is cheaper.
  5. Community management. Replying to comments and messages daily is ongoing labour. Find out whether replies are included, how fast, and during which hours.
  6. Paid ads. Ad management is usually priced separately from organic content, and ad spend is always on top.
  7. Strategy and reporting depth. A one-page monthly summary and a full analytics review with tests and recommendations are not the same deliverable.

More detail on each factor is on our pricing page under what drives the cost.

Costs people forget to budget for

  • Your own time: approvals, supplying footage and answering questions. Budget an hour or two a week at the start.
  • Tools: scheduling, design, stock music or stock footage subscriptions, if not included by the provider.
  • Ad spend if you decide to boost posts.
  • Shoots: photographer or videographer days for products, venues or headshots.
  • Currency and payment fees when hiring abroad: card or PayPal conversion fees can add a few percent.
  • Switching cost if you change provider: make sure you own the accounts, the content files and the brand assets.

How to compare two quotes

  1. Convert both into finished assets per month by format (videos, carousels, single images, Stories).
  2. Check who supplies raw footage and whether shoots cost extra.
  3. Ask what community management covers: replies to comments, DMs, response times.
  4. Ask to see a sample monthly report. Does it connect activity to enquiries, bookings or sales?
  5. Confirm contract length and notice period, and that you keep admin access to every account.
  6. Confirm whether ad management is included, and that ad spend is billed to your own card.
  7. Divide each price by the number of finished assets to get a cost per asset, then compare like with like (video against video, static against static).

Red flags in a social media quote

  • Guaranteed follower numbers. Growth can be planned but not guaranteed by honest means. Buying fake followers or views is itself prohibited in the US as "fake indicators of social media influence" under the FTC's reviews and testimonials rule (The Consumer Reviews and Testimonials Rule: Questions and Answers).
  • Requests for your password instead of partner or role-based access through Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn page admin roles or YouTube channel permissions.
  • No asset count in the proposal.
  • Long lock-in contracts before any work has been delivered.
  • Offers to post fake reviews or testimonials. These are illegal in many countries and can get accounts removed.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in a social media management plan?

A standard plan usually includes research and strategy, a monthly content calendar, finished posts and short videos, captions and SEO direction, publishing and a monthly performance review. With us that is about 30 content assets per platform per month. Community management, ads management, shoots and long-form video are usually quoted separately.

Is $450–$850 a month enough for social media management?

For one platform with about 30 assets a month, that is our indicative range, and our standard LinkedIn plan is about $500. Whether it is enough depends on your goals: a business that needs daily video across four platforms, plus paid ads and on-site shoots, will need a larger budget. The cost calculator shows how the range moves.

Why is video content more expensive?

Scripting, editing, captions, sound and cover frames take far longer than designing one image. That is why quotes with more Reels or Shorts cost more.

Is community management included?

Replying to comments and messages is ongoing work, so it is scoped and quoted to your needs rather than assumed. Ask any provider how many hours or which response window their quote covers.

Should ad spend be part of the management fee?

No. Ad spend should be charged directly to your own ad account so you can see exactly what was spent. Management of the ads is a separate service.

Are prices different by country?

Our prices are the same worldwide and billed in USD. Local agencies price according to their own market, so expect variation between countries.

Do I need a contract?

You should have written terms covering scope, asset counts, approval process, notice period and account ownership, whatever the provider.
