Instagram Fonts Generator

Type once, get 21 fancy text styles: bold, italic, script, gothic, double-struck, small caps and more. Copy and paste into your bio, captions or comments.

Type your text and the generator shows it in 21 Unicode styles, such as bold, italic, script, gothic and small caps. Tap Copy next to a style and paste it into Instagram. These are special characters, not real fonts, so screen readers and search may not read them like normal text: use them for a word or two, not for important information.

Letters A–Z and numbers are styled. Other characters (emoji, punctuation, non-Latin scripts) stay as they are.

Styles update as you type.

Text styles

Previews are hidden from screen readers because they read styled letters as symbols. Each style’s name is on its Copy button.

How to use the Instagram fonts generator

    1. Type or paste your text. A name, a headline for your bio, or one word you want to stand out in a caption.
    2. Scroll the styles. Every style updates as you type, so you can compare bold, script and gothic side by side.
    3. Tap Copy. The styled text goes to your clipboard.
    4. Paste into Instagram. Open Edit profile for your name or bio, or paste into a caption or comment. Check how it looks on your phone before you save.

How “fonts” on Instagram actually work

Instagram does not let you choose a font for your bio or captions. What these generators do is replace each normal letter with a look-alike character from the Unicode standard. Unicode includes a block called Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols, created so mathematicians can write bold, italic, script, Fraktur and double-struck letters as separate symbols. Other styles come from enclosed letters (circled and squared), fullwidth forms used in East Asian typography, small capital letters from phonetic alphabets, and combining marks that draw a line through or under each character.

Because the result is plain text, it travels anywhere: Instagram bios and captions, Facebook, X, TikTok, YouTube comments and messaging apps. The catch is that these are different characters from normal letters, and that has side effects you should know about.

    Accessibility: use styled text sparingly

Screen readers are built to read words. When they meet styled characters they may read each letter separately (“mathematical bold capital F, mathematical bold small r…”), skip them, or say nothing useful. For someone with a visual impairment, a bio written entirely in script can be unreadable, and translation and search tools may not recognise the words either.

Practical rules we follow for client accounts:

    • Style one or two words for emphasis, not whole sentences.
    • Keep your business name, city, prices, dates, phone number and links in plain text.
    • Do not style hashtags. A styled hashtag is a different hashtag from the plain one people search and follow.
    • Read your bio aloud with your phone’s screen reader (VoiceOver on iPhone, TalkBack on Android) to hear what others hear.

Why some styles may not display

Whether a style shows correctly depends on the fonts installed on the viewer’s device, not yours. Most up-to-date iPhones, Android phones and computers show the common styles. Older phones, some smart TVs, some apps and some web browsers may show empty boxes (“tofu”) or question marks instead. Bold, italic and sans-serif styles are usually the most widely supported; strikethrough and underline can look broken in some apps because the line is drawn by a separate combining character.

Character count and the 150-character bio

Instagram bios are limited to 150 characters. Most styled letters are stored as two code units instead of one, and some counters treat that as two characters. A bio that looks like 120 characters can be rejected as too long. Draft your bio in our Instagram bio generator, which shows a live 150-character check, or paste any text into the social media character counter.

A bio is more than a font

Fancy text can make a profile memorable, but what turns visitors into followers and customers is a clear bio, a strong first grid and consistent content. Our Instagram management plan includes profile optimisation (bio, link and highlights) plus 15 Reels and 15 posts a month with captions and hashtags. If you want a second opinion first, ask for a free social media audit, or add hashtags with the Instagram hashtag generator.

Planning to request verification? Keep your profile name plain so it matches your ID or business name. Our guide on how to get verified on Instagram covers both official routes, and how to get more Instagram followers covers organic growth.

Keep your username plain too: styled letters don’t work in usernames. Our Instagram username generator suggests handles using only letters, numbers, periods and underscores.

Writing on LinkedIn? The LinkedIn text formatter styles selected words in a sans-serif bold or italic that suits LinkedIn, with a 3,000-character counter.

    FAQ

    Instagram Fonts Generator FAQ

How do Instagram fonts generators work?

They do not change the font. They swap each letter for a different Unicode character that looks like a styled letter, for example the “mathematical bold capital A”. Because the result is ordinary text characters, you can paste it anywhere that accepts text, including your Instagram bio, name, captions and comments.

Are fancy fonts bad for accessibility?

They can be. Screen readers may read styled letters one by one, announce them as mathematical symbols, or skip them, so a person using a screen reader may not understand the text. Use styled text for a word or two of decoration, never for key information like your business name, prices, dates or contact details.

Why do some styles show as boxes or question marks?

The person viewing your post needs a font on their device that includes those characters. Most current phones show the common styles, but older devices, some apps and some browsers show empty boxes instead. Bold and italic usually render most widely; squared, circled and combining styles (strikethrough, underline) are the least reliable.

Will fancy fonts hurt my Instagram search visibility?

They can. Styled characters are different characters from normal letters, so a search for “bakery” may not match “𝐛𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐲”. Keep the words people search for, such as your business type and city, in plain text, especially in your name field and the first line of your bio.

Do styled letters count as more characters?

Often, yes. Most styled letters sit outside the basic character range and are stored as two code units, so some counters count them as two characters each and a bio close to the 150-character limit may be rejected. Check your bio with our Instagram bio generator or character counter before saving.

Is this tool free and private?

Yes. The fonts generator runs in your browser. What you type is not sent to us or stored, and there is no sign-up or limit.
