LinkedIn Company Page Optimization
A section-by-section checklist for your LinkedIn Page using LinkedIn’s Help Center: images, URL, Overview, call-to-action, admins, follower invites and analytics.
In short: upload a 400 × 400 px logo and a 1512 × 256 px cover (PNG or JPEG, up to 3 MB), claim a clean linkedin.com/company/ URL, write a tagline and Overview that say what you do for whom, and complete Industry, Company size, website and locations. Add a call-to-action, keep at least two super admins, invite interested connections and check Page analytics monthly. LinkedIn says complete Pages potentially get 30% more weekly views.

Why your LinkedIn Page matters
Your LinkedIn Company Page is often the first thing buyers, partners and job seekers check after your website. LinkedIn itself says that Pages with complete information, such as a logo, description and website URL, are more discoverable and potentially receive 30% more weekly views (Complete your LinkedIn Page).
This checklist follows LinkedIn’s own Help Center, section by section. It is for Company Pages; for your personal profile, see our LinkedIn profile optimization checklist.

The 10-minute checklist
- Logo: 400 × 400 px, readable on light and dark backgrounds.
- Cover image: 1512 × 256 px, key details in the centre.
- Clean Page URL: linkedin.com/company/your-name.
- Tagline: what you do and for whom, in one line.
- Overview: a clear description with the words customers search for.
- Industry, company size, website, locations and commitments filled in.
- A call-to-action (Visit website, Contact us, Request services and others).
- At least two super admins, with two-step verification on.
- Employees linking the Page as their employer on their profiles.
- A posting rhythm and a monthly look at Page analytics.
1. Logo and cover image specs
LinkedIn’s image specifications for Pages say all images must be PNG or JPEG and no larger than 3 MB:
| Image | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Page logo | 268 × 268 px | 400 × 400 px |
| Page cover image | 1512 × 256 px | 1512 × 256 px |
| Life tab main image (Career Pages) | 1128 × 376 px | 1128 × 376 px |
| Life tab company photos | 264 × 176 px | 900 × 600 px |
| Link post image | 1.91:1 ratio (1200 × 627 px), more than 200 px wide | |
- Your logo appears on light and dark backgrounds; a transparent logo is shown on white, so test both.
- The cover may be trimmed on different screens. LinkedIn advises keeping key details away from the edges, especially the lower-right corner, and using limited text.
- For the sharpest result, LinkedIn suggests a high-resolution JPEG at the recommended size.

2. Page URL and name
All Page URLs follow the pattern linkedin.com/company/[your company name]. LinkedIn’s Page best practices list the URL rules:
- At least one non-numeric character.
- Lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens (CJK characters are also allowed); no uppercase letters.
- No two hyphens in a row, and no hyphen at the start or end.
- If your preferred URL is taken, use a variation; improper characters are replaced with a hyphen automatically.
Before creating a Page, check one doesn’t already exist. If it exists, request admin access; if it’s an unclaimed Listing Page, you may be able to claim it.
3. Tagline and Overview: write for search
Members can search for Pages by keywords and attributes (LinkedIn Help), so use plain words that describe what you do.
- Tagline: one line that says what you do and for whom. Example: “Payroll software for UK small businesses”. The edit box shows the character limit.
- Overview: start with who you help and how, then your services or products, locations served and what makes you different. End with how to get in touch.
- Keep it current: update when you launch services or enter new markets.
Draft it in our character counter to see its length as you edit.
4. Complete every key section
LinkedIn recommends completing these sections (Complete your LinkedIn Page): Industry, Company size, Overview, Description, Logo, Commitments, Website URL, Location (you can add several and mark the primary office), Custom call-to-action and Work email verification.
Industry, company size and Overview are mandatory if you want to use the Invite to follow feature. To edit, go to your Page super admin view and click Edit page (Edit your LinkedIn Page). The Today’s actions section in the admin dashboard also suggests improvements for your Page.
5. Add the right call-to-action
You can name a custom call-to-action and link it to a URL. LinkedIn lists options such as Visit website, Contact us, Learn more, Sign up, Register, Give, Volunteer, Request demo, Buy now and Request services (Custom call-to-action options).
- Request services fits Pages that offer services; Request demo needs a published Flagship product page.
- Without a Premium Company Page subscription, the call-to-action only appears when members click More. With Premium, it can appear at the top of the Page, on feed posts and in search result cards.
- Clicks on the button appear in Visitor analytics.
Point the button at a page that converts: a contact form, booking page or free audit offer.
6. Protect the Page: admins and security
- Add at least two super admins in case one leaves. LinkedIn says it can’t provide Page admin information to members or replace or remove admins (LinkedIn Help).
- Turn on two-step verification for every admin’s personal account, and review LinkedIn’s options for verification and managing messages.
- Use roles, not shared passwords. Agencies and freelancers should get their own admin role and lose it when the work ends.
Our guide on handing over social media access safely covers this for every platform.
7. Grow followers the right way
- Employees first: ask staff to add the Page as their employer. LinkedIn says it can take 14 to 30 days for someone to show as an associated employee.
- Invite connections: Pages get monthly invitation credits, shared across admins and renewed on the first day of each month. An accepted invitation returns the credit (within up to 72 hours); a declined or withdrawn one doesn’t (Invitation limits). The feature isn’t available to Pages with more than 100,000 followers (Invite connections).
- Invite people likely to be interested, as LinkedIn recommends, rather than your whole network.
- Share the Page on your website, email signature and other platforms using the Share Page button.
- Post consistently: LinkedIn notes that building your following helps the Page’s ranking in search.
8. Post consistently and read Page analytics
LinkedIn Page analytics are available to all admin roles and cover content, followers, visitors, search appearances, competitors, employer brand and newsletters (LinkedIn Page analytics). Use them monthly:
- Content: which posts and topics earn engagement.
- Followers and visitors: job functions, industries and locations. Are they your buyers?
- Search appearances: keywords people use to find you.
- Competitors: how your follower growth and engagement compare.
Choose posting times from your own data with our guide to the best time to post on LinkedIn. A practical mix for B2B Pages: customer results, short how-tos, team and culture, product updates and founder posts reshared to the Page.
Once the Page has more than 150 followers and regular original posts, it can be considered for a newsletter: see how to start a LinkedIn newsletter.
Showcase Pages: when to use one
A Showcase Page can represent a brand, business unit or initiative, aimed at a specific audience over the long term (LinkedIn Help). Use one only when an audience is truly different (for example, a separate product line for a different buyer). Otherwise, one strong main Page is easier to grow than several weak ones.
Common LinkedIn Page mistakes
- Only one admin, who then leaves the company.
- A blurry or text-heavy cover with important details cut off on mobile.
- Vague taglines like “Innovating the future” that don’t say what you do.
- Missing Industry, size or Overview, which also blocks invitations.
- Posting only job ads or press releases. Mix in useful, human content.
- Never checking analytics, so you can’t tell what works.
