LinkedIn Banner Size
The profile and Company Page banner sizes LinkedIn publishes, where the profile photo covers your banner, and how to keep text visible on every screen.
In short: LinkedIn Help recommends 1584 × 396 px (PNG or JPG, no GIFs) for a personal profile banner and 1512 × 256 px (PNG or JPEG, up to 3 MB) for a Company Page cover. The profile photo covers the lower left of a profile banner and covers are cropped on different screens, so keep text in the centre and check on a phone after uploading.

LinkedIn profile banner size (1584 × 396)
LinkedIn Help recommends 1584 (w) × 396 (h) pixels for the cover image on your personal profile (Add or change the cover image on your profile). That’s a 4:1 strip. The file must be PNG or JPG; LinkedIn doesn’t support GIFs (Photo won’t upload to your profile).
LinkedIn adds a few notes worth knowing:
- The cover appears behind your profile photo in the introduction section, so the photo covers part of the lower left.
- How the image appears changes with browser window size and screen resolution.
- If the cover looks blurry or pixelated, choose an image with a larger file size; photos also look better than images with logos.
- When you start a LinkedIn Live broadcast, your cover temporarily shows the live stream and changes back afterwards; LinkedIn says there’s currently no opt-out.
Safe zone for the profile banner
LinkedIn doesn’t publish a safe zone for profile banners. Because the profile photo sits over the lower-left part and the strip is cropped differently on phones and wide screens, this is the layout we use on a 1584 × 396 px canvas:
| Area | What to put there | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Left third, lower half | Nothing important; the profile photo covers it | Based on LinkedIn Help |
| Centre and right (about 568–1500 px across) | Your line of text, logo or call to action | Our suggestion |
| Top and bottom ~40 px | Background only; can be cropped on phones | Our suggestion |
After uploading, check your profile on a phone and on a laptop. On phones the banner is shown smaller and cropped more tightly, so short text in large type works best.
How to add or change your LinkedIn profile banner
- Click the Me icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage, then view your profile.
- Click the camera icon in the upper-right corner of your introduction section (or the Edit icon on an existing cover image).
- Upload a photo. You can then crop it, apply filters, adjust it, change the position and size, or rotate it.
- Click Apply if shown. The image uploads automatically.
To remove a banner, open the same edit screen and click Delete photo. LinkedIn also offers a cover slideshow as a Premium feature on some plans (LinkedIn Help).
Your banner is one part of a complete profile; our LinkedIn profile optimization checklist covers the headline, About, Featured and skills.
LinkedIn Company Page cover size (1512 × 256)
For LinkedIn Pages, LinkedIn Help lists 1512 × 256 px as both the minimum and the recommended cover size. All Page images must be PNG or JPEG with a maximum of 3 MB (Image specifications for your LinkedIn Pages and Career Pages).
- LinkedIn says the cover might be adjusted to fit the screen, trimming it horizontally or vertically, and recommends a high-quality image with limited text.
- Place key details away from the edges, especially the lower-right corner, and keep important information in the centre.
- For the best resolution, LinkedIn suggests a high-resolution JPEG instead of a PNG at the recommended size.
- The logo (400 × 400 px) is shown on both light and dark backgrounds; a transparent logo appears on white, so test it on both.
- A dynamic cover image slideshow is available with a Premium Company Page subscription.

Other LinkedIn image sizes
- Link posts from a Page: use a 1.91:1 image (1200 × 627 px), more than 200 px wide. Narrower images show as a small thumbnail on the left. This doesn’t apply to image-only posts, which are enlarged to fit the feed (LinkedIn Help).
- Career Pages: Life tab main image 1128 × 376 px, custom modules 502 × 282 px, company photos 900 × 600 px recommended (minimum 264 × 176).
- Profile photo: 400 × 400 px up to 7680 × 4320 px; LinkedIn recommends a photo that won’t need much cropping.
For every platform in one place, use our social media image size guide and resizer, which crops images to these sizes in your browser.
