What a LinkedIn manager actually does

"LinkedIn manager" covers two different jobs, and many hires go wrong because nobody decided which one they needed:

  • Company Page management: a calendar of posts, carousels (LinkedIn calls them documents), short videos and hiring content published as the Page, plus monthly analytics. LinkedIn lets Page admins publish documents of up to 100 MB or 300 pages, which followers can download as PDFs ({L("li_docs")}).
  • Founder or executive ghostwriting: posts written in a person's voice and published from their own profile. This usually reaches more people than the Page, but it needs interviews, approvals and the executive's time. See our ghostwriting cost guide.

Decide which you need, or both, before you write a job description or brief an agency.

Our LinkedIn management services can cover both jobs: a Company Page and a founder profile.

Salary benchmarks for an in-house hire

U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Occupational Outlook Handbook. Wages exclude benefits and payroll taxes.
US benchmark (May 2025)Median annual wage
Public relations specialists (the BLS category that covers social media programmes)$74,750
Lowest 10% of public relations specialistsunder $44,110
Advertising, promotions and marketing managers$165,780
All occupations$50,980

Source: Occupational Outlook Handbook, Public Relations Specialists (May 2025 wages). BLS describes public relations specialists as developing social media programmes and monitoring and responding to social media questions, which is the closest official category to a LinkedIn or social media manager. A median salary of $74,750 is about $6,230 a month before benefits, payroll taxes, software and recruitment.

Our LinkedIn plan is indicatively $450–$850 a month for 15 posts, 10 carousels and 5 videos. It does not replace a senior marketer who sets strategy across channels, but it can replace the production work that a junior hire would do.

The LinkedIn audience in the US

DataReportal's Digital 2026 report counts 270 million registered LinkedIn members in the United States, against a population of 348 million (Digital 2026: The United States of America (Kepios, published 5 Nov 2025)). Registered members are not the same as active users, but the figure shows how many US professionals have a profile that your Page and posts can reach. It is the only major platform where most of the audience is there for work.

How to vet a candidate or agency

  1. Ask for three LinkedIn posts or carousels they wrote for a client in a field close to yours, and what each achieved (impressions, comments from target buyers, clicks, applicants).
  2. Ask how they learn your voice: interview calls, recorded voice notes, a style guide.
  3. Ask who approves each post, and how fast they can turn round changes.
  4. Ask what they report each month. LinkedIn Page analytics can take up to 48 hours to update (Content analytics for your LinkedIn Page), so weekly vanity screenshots are less useful than a monthly review.
  5. Ask what they will not do: automated connection requests, engagement pods and buying followers are against LinkedIn's rules (Professional Community Policies).
  6. Check the contract: notice period, who owns the content, and how access is removed when you part ways.

Give access the safe way

Never share a password. Add your manager as a Page admin with the narrowest role that does the job (LinkedIn Page admin roles). For ghostwriting, the executive usually publishes the approved post themselves, or uses a scheduling tool they control. When the engagement ends, remove the role the same day.

Rules for US companies

  • Employee and customer endorsements need clear disclosure if there is a material connection, such as an employee praising a product or a paid partner (FTC's Endorsement Guides: What People Are Asking).
  • Fake engagement is illegal, not just risky. The FTC's reviews and testimonials rule bans buying fake indicators of social media influence such as followers or views (The Consumer Reviews and Testimonials Rule: Questions and Answers).
  • Regulated sectors such as financial services, healthcare and legal have their own advertising rules; your compliance team should approve those posts.

Time zones

India is 9.5 hours ahead of US Eastern time during daylight saving time and 10.5 hours ahead in winter. In practice we work while you sleep: you approve drafts in your morning and they are scheduled for your peak LinkedIn hours. Calls are booked in your morning or our evening. FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a LinkedIn manager cost in the US?

BLS puts the median wage for public relations specialists at $74,750 a year (May 2025), before benefits. Outsourced plans with us are indicatively $450–$850 a month for 30 assets, with a $299 starter month.

Should the content go on the company Page or the founder's profile?

Both have a role. Personal profiles usually reach more people; the Page is where hiring, product news and proof live. Many B2B companies run both with one calendar.

Do you guarantee leads from LinkedIn?

No. We plan content that gives buyers reasons to contact you and report what happens, but no honest provider can guarantee leads.

Can you manage LinkedIn ads?

Not in a standard single-platform plan. Ad management can be quoted separately, and ad spend is paid to LinkedIn directly.
