Is Facebook still worth it in the UK?

For local businesses, usually yes. DataReportal's Digital 2026 UK report puts Facebook's ad audience at 38.8 million, larger than Instagram's 35.5 million (Digital 2026: The United Kingdom (Kepios, published 5 Nov 2025)). Facebook is where people look for opening hours, ask neighbours for recommendations in local groups and check upcoming events. Trades, garden centres, gyms, venues, care providers, dentists and estate agents all get enquiries from it.

The features that bring in customers

  • Events. Page events are public, and recurring events can repeat up to 52 times, which suits weekly classes, quiz nights and open days (Create an event for your Facebook Page; Create a recurring Facebook event for your Page).
  • Recommendations. When turned on, visitors can recommend your Page, and those recommendations are visible to others (Turn Recommendations on or off for your business Page). Ask happy customers, but never pay for or write reviews yourself.
  • Reels. Short vertical videos reach people who do not follow you yet. Our Facebook plan includes 15 Reels and 15 posts a month.
  • Messages. A quick reply is often the difference between a booking and a lost lead; agree who answers and when.

Offers, Page updates and posts promoting your events can be planned into a monthly calendar as part of our Facebook Page management services.

Plan around the UK calendar

England and Wales have eight bank holidays a year, Scotland nine and Northern Ireland ten (UK bank holidays). Each one changes opening hours, footfall and when people are on their phones. Typical calendar hooks:

  • Bank holiday opening hours, posted a week ahead and pinned.
  • School holidays and half-terms for family businesses.
  • Seasonal peaks: Black Friday, Christmas, January sales, Mothering Sunday.
  • Local events: the high street, the football club, the summer fete.

Rules that catch UK businesses out

Do it yourself, or hand it over?

A Page posting three times a week, answering messages within a working day and running events can take a few hours a week of an owner's time. If that time is better spent on the business, outsourcing makes sense. Our Facebook plan is indicatively $450–$850 a month, from about £378 at the European Central Bank rate of 1 October 2026 (Euro foreign exchange reference rates (1 October 2026)), for 15 Reels and 15 posts plus a Page audit, research, captions, publishing support and an analytics review. The Instagram + Facebook + YouTube bundle is $1,200, about £907.

Give access through Meta's partner access in your business portfolio, not by sharing a login (Give a partner access to business assets in your business portfolio). For a fuller cost comparison see Social Media Management Cost in the UK and Facebook management.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Should a small UK business be on Facebook or Instagram?

Many local businesses need both. Facebook's UK ad audience (38.8 million) is larger than Instagram's (35.5 million), and it is stronger for events and local recommendations.

Do you reply to Facebook messages?

Our starting plan covers content, publishing and reporting. Message handling can be added; tell us the hours you need.

Do you run Facebook ads?

Not in a standard single-platform plan. Ad management is quoted separately and ad spend is paid to Meta.

What do you need from us to start?

Partner access to the Page, your brand assets, a few photos or clips each month, and someone who can approve the calendar.
